The Stillwater Mining Company and Johnson Matthey collaborate to mine and refine the palladium to a 99.95% purity. The Northwest Territorial Mint began minting the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery bicentennial commemorative bars and rounds in 2004. Each comes sealed in a plastic card containing the assay certificate number.

The classic Lewis and Clark, Corps of Discovery design adorns the obverse. The reverse depicts the logo of the Stillwater mining Company. The finely detailed palladium bars appeal to investors seeking palladium holdings, and is the only U.S. made palladium bullion coin available.
